mk2 golf gti exhaust help

does anyone know if it is possible to fit a 16v backbox to an 8v mid box,

I am fitting a 2.0 8v into my g2 and have been offered a stainless 16v backbox for £20 but have already got an 8v mid box,

I think the bore is slightly bigger on the 16v but not sure, if this is all i can fit a sleeve?

Hello mate the bracket the back box hangs on is in a different place so you would need to cut it off and either make a bracket or weld the old one back on in a different place

brackets been the same on all the ones ive seen? Just a different bore mare you will need a reducer

Bracket on 16v is on top of the box and the 8v is on the side

you sure thats not dependant on years? I have fitted valver backboxes to 8vs without changing any brackets before. I dont remember any of them having a bracket on the box.

Just fitted one to my 8v dont know if it depends if it is for a big bumper model or not but every 16v box I looked at had the bracket on the top of the back box mate could be wrong would not be the first time lol
