| i have a 1.8 8v mk2 golf Gti gear box on my mk3 2.0 agg 8v. have just got the car running, however there was a wineing noise comeing from the box. so we changed the box oil. started the car up, no more wine, put my foot on the clutch selected 1st gear and its now makeing a grinding noise! and have got no drive! the clutch is brand new. the box was removed from my mates car. it was in good woking order when removed, but has sat for near on 2 years. What do you think people nacked Box??? | |

| is it cable change ,because i had this problem so i replace the clutch cable ,and problem solved,i think due to cable strech | |

| yeah im on my second cable, in the end i used a mk2 gti cable ,because the self adjusting mk1 ones are shite | |

| so let me get this right liam... its a rod box with cable clutch, you had drive and a whine, changed the oil and now have no drive and a grinding noise. hmmm. odd. check the oil again..... the condition of it I mean, you may find its lunched itself. | |

| Did it drive before liam? Sounds like you have an early mk1/2 box with small input shaft going into a later spec clutch plate which takes the large input shaft | |
