id kinda grown a bit bored with my mk3 estate daily and allways fanced a caddy pickup.
so when i spotted one on ebay on sunday i thought bollocks ill take a risk and have a bid .we went to collect it from spalding on tuesday and despite first impressions has it turned out to not be that much of a minger.
the only rust ive found so far
is a strip in the bed floor and the corner of the drivers door . the paint on the other hand is fooked ,proper fooked ,its a crazed milky mess ,due to a rattle can respray at some point on its life ,still im not to bothered as a full paint job was always gonna be on the cards anyway.
mechanically its good as gold ,well ,its slow as hell and noisier than a 1930's tractor but it starts on the button and the biggest bonus was it came with a full to the brim tank of diesel .
it made the 2.5hr journey back to essex without a single problem .
how it looked when we got to spalding.
nothing stays stock for long ,so the first job when getting home was to bin those ugly steelies and break out my bbs rs
next was a mk1 gti chin spoiler and some 90spec gti seats .
with the back end so high i was getting mistaken for a farmer ,so thursday was dedicated to fliping the rear axle .
the front coils have had a coil cut from them to level it up untill a set of collies turns up.
thats better.
today i just gave it a clean and fixed the broken door check strap ,its getting there though .
future plans will be to sort the bodywork and repaint in melon yellow ,refurb the bbs and maybe a 1.9 aaz conversion.
its gonna stay as my daily so im gonna do it all a bit at a time to keep it on the road as much as possible .
ill try and keep this up to date as i go .
cheers
