right peeps, am i right in thinking if you want to lower a caddy more than an axle flip you need lowering blocks of different sizes?if so does anyone have a drawing of 1 or a picture with sizes on, i plan to make some up for me mate so need to know sizes, material etc.
also i no how thick it is depends on the drop.

Yeah use blocks for more that an 100mm drop on the back of a caddy.

Has your mate removed the axle yet?

If he has then he'll see that there's a small plate on each side. Same width as a leafspring and approx 100mm long with a hole in the centre where the axle locating pin goes.

Basically, get 1 of those plates off him and copy to your desired thickness

Bad timing really, if you'd have said a couple of days ago, i could've given you a spacer that you could use as a template.

I put them on my truck now so its approx another 11mm lower

just remembered i have a spare axle so i'll mearsure them tommorrow

they use hollow ally for mk2 escort lowering blocks and thats what people use on caddys they just have to drill a locating pin in the middle.

when you use blocks you have to put threaded bar right through the axle and all the leafs, spacers, plates etc so dont worry about how tight of a fit the bolt is.

Mk3golfcab - above thread is actually about making offest blocks to keep wheels central (axel flips tend to put them out) but has diagrams of 'standard' block placement too. hope it is of some help...

Who's the blocks for? still up for making me some? haven't flipped yet as I can't afford the coilies for the front or new shocks up the back, but if you wanna take measurements I'll be back in town soon enough

hmm well might do that but you haven't seen the state of me shocks - not sure about chopping the springs though, sounds dodgy to me

Maybe I'll look into cutting springs then as a temporary whilst I save up... Better check with the other half though!! But I guess if its worked for you there's no harm in it...

oh and just to add piece of mind i drive like an absolute knob so you'll be fine in a caddy

well its quite often gonna have heavy stuff in it for the time being, but I drive like the pope. Fuel economy and all that...
