256mm brakes are the largest you can fit under 14" wheels unless you dont have the calipers on of course. 280's just dont fit, i've tried it, got caught with it even when I had a puncture and my space saver was a 14"

I'm always happy to be proved wrong ! I was sitting thinking about this today in the pouring rain and was wondering why they didn't fit inside the wheels I had tried before and came to the conclusion that I had only ever used gen VW or bbs and its got be the shape of them. Come to think of it it only ever caught the caliper and probably would have been ok with spacers.

Come to think of it, I've a set of nissan almera 15's with no tyres you could have for mere beans if yo just want them for hooking around with, they are 4x100 i believe, I look later on. could have them on loan if ya want, not an issue. 07791001385
