Bought this engine orignally to go in my corrado but had a few problems getting it running so this will need looking into (hence the price!) but at the time i needed the car back quickly so we ended up giving up and sticking a standard abf in. The spec as supplied to me by the guy i bought it off is as follows:

2ltr 16v ABF bottom end from a mk3 16v gti 'long throw' engine - supplied by Stevens VW about 2yrs ago and informed it was a good low mileage engine, standard internals,
painted silver

1.8 KR 16v original head
ported inlet and exhaust openings to gasket size and welds smoothed
Skimmed
All valves removed, de-coked and replaced. Guides fine so not messed with
New Head Gasket fitted
comes with new head gasket set
KR Cams
standard tappets

will also chuck in any other spare bits that go with it i can find lying around my shed, think there is an inlet manifold and ECU etc

Looking for £50 for a quick sale, easily worth that just for the head/cams etc (it sold a while ago on E38 for almost double that but after asking me to hold it for a couple of months the guy changed his mind! Mad )

Collection from Newport, Essex - about 20mins from Cambridge

hello mate,

When we put the engine in we had load of trouble getting it to start, we spent a couple of days trying to get it to go but could not get it started despite having spark/fuel etc. We did eventually get it going a couple of times - the first time by towing it up the road and bump starting it (as we had killed the battery on the Rado, the mrs's mk2 and Steves van!) - it was a bit smokey and was running a bit rough (would not idle, missing etc) but had not been run for a couple of years, so expected that but when we switched it off and it would not go again.

The next morning i went out and it fired off the key first time and seemed to run fine but once again, when i turned it off we could not get it started again!

Gave up and put a standard ABF in that had just been taken from a running car and that went pretty much first time!

I dont think its anything too serious but advertised as spares not a runner hence the low price as i dont know whats up with it (i paid £350 for this engine although that included a the gearbox and a load of other bits that we did end up using or where sold seperatly)

Martin Smile

have you checked your engine code on that mk2 mate as it may be a 2.0 already as when tom had it, it was very fast, almost as quick as my VR mk2.

Laughing Ermmm no i haven't actually Shocked will have a look tomorrow morning. Will still be having this engine though either way, be a handy spare plus the ported head can just go on if it is.

Cheers for saying that though tiz, would be slightly annoyed to get the engine out then see it was a 2.0 anyways Laughing
