			<description>ive got toyo r888s on my dads caterham, and they are absolutely amazing, but obviously i cant put them on my car as they pretty much dont work in the wet.



what tyres can i get which are close to the performance of r888s, but which are as good in the wet as the dry? 

 

i have pirelli diablo corsa 3s on my motorbike, which are awsome, but i wasnt impressed with their p6000 car tyres when i tried them, and you cant get p zeros in 13&quot; ;-(

I have just ordered some coilovers and plan on lowering the car quite a lot when I recieve them, so I dont want too lower profiles on the wheels but at the same time I dont want some massive looking tyres. 			<description>I've recently purchased a Mk2 3 door GTi with the big bumpers, unfortunately it came with standard suspension and 17&quot; alloys with 205 40 tyres on and as a result puts my old landrover to shame in respect of ground clearance.



At the minute I can't afford to change the wheels for the ones I want so was thinking about lowering it on the current wheels, does any one know how far I can go before having rubbing issues, oh and I don't want to have to fork out for arch work either.

ive got the tyres off, tried to undo the bolts but they r sooo dam tight, they have allen key fitment on the front and a 13mm nut on the backs. i cnt get a ratchet on the nuts coz they r so close to the outter. ne advice would be a help, i thought there was a page on this on edition but cnt seem to find it?

is it possibe to take a wire wheel to the rims to get the laquer off so i could spray them myself?



i'm not worried about any showroom finish or anything. i just need the paint to stick.
