did a few checks last night like oil and water on the Cabby as it's the first outing this weekend, took it across town to get some fuel, drove well. But when i parked up at home i could hear the fan running, i flipped the bonnet open and the expansion bottle was hissing like a good un with signs of water leaking out. any ideas where i should start..?????

did you bleed all the air out of the water system? If not its a good place to start, fill it up, expansion tank cap off, heater all the way to full and on maximum fan speed. Keep doing it till there is no bubbles coming up in the expansion tank, heater blowing warm and the fan has cut in no less than twice. Squeeze all the pipes especially the top and bottom rad pipes quite a lot to help release air locks. _________________

If you've done above ^^^, it could be a dodgy header tank cap _________________ Paintwork Restorer and odd job man!. PM me with enquiries

right, i ran engine with cap off, heater on full, didn't see any air bubbles but left it running anyway for about 25 mins. As soon as i shut the heaters off and put cap back on the temp needle climbs to half way mark, the fan cuts in and the water bubbles out

well i made it there and back, had to have heaters on full all the way to stop it overheating. I was parked right behind the Fendubbers Banner about 5 cars up from you (next to the polo with the teddybear rims). reckon it might be a trip to the garage to have them take a look
