PostSubject: My All red rears??   Sun Jan 04 2009, 17:49

hi peeps....just though i'd show off my all red's that i've done this morning.....

Basically, scotch brite and clean the lenses thoroughly...........then cleaned with brake cleaner to remove all dirt etc and dust.

Propped them up on some old aerosol cans.......

Put the tin of light tint spray in the line of the space heater, until the can and contents were veryvery very warm.....so warm i could only just hold......

Shake can well, and apply 8 - 10 thin coats of paint all over......

Do not put heavy coats on.....really really thin......build it up, at first it wont look like its doing anything.......but it'll build up well......

I put 8 coats on the insicator and reversing light sections, and 3 coats over the complete lot, so it all matches!!!

here u go.....before and after..........

btw.....the only reason i put the can in the heater is beacuse if you get it warm enough......it dries really fast, so more coats can be applied ina shorter time....also, it dires really shiney.....and looks OEM like brand new lights, where as if the spray is cold...it will either finish mat, or go cloudy......

any quesstions, or comments, welcome :-)

looking cool, you thought about putting a clear coat over the top to make them even more shiney?

dont need to mate, in all honesty they look stock so i'll leave them as they are for now. They look pretty good i think, and dont wanna risk "over shining" them. As if they are too shiney they will look like i've done them......

I could be wrong but dont you have to run different bulbs now to make the lights illuminate the correct colours?
For some reason i think you need a green coloured one for the indicator i may of dreamt this though.

nope they will flash red cause the bulb isnt coloured. You need a green bulb(from ebay) and it will flash orange
